Clinical Decision Support Wiki (7/30/09)

New wiki supports collaboration and accelerates progress on using clinical decision

support for healthcare performance improvement

CHICAGO (July 30, 2009) – Many organizations struggle to successfully deploy clinical

decision support (CDS), a goal that takes on new importance since effective clinical

decision support is a critical component of ‘meaningful EMR use,’ as required for

stimulus funding under the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

Now, to help realize the promise of clinical decision support to enable meaningful

EMR use and widely improve care delivery and outcomes, the HIMSS Clinical Decision

Support Task Force is opening its CDS Wiki to the public.  Read more

We need to get as many pharmacists coming to this page as we possibly can. Its the numbers that will liven up the site and keep the wiki content going. I suggest that we cross-link between Wikipedia and this wiki. The links will make it appear in Google and Yahoo. Anybody that is a blogger or Twitterer should also be linking!

As the ePrescribing moves forward 2 words should become part of any systems evaluation vocabulary:

1) Inherently Safe Design: Is every aspect of the software designed to minimize errors in ordering, tranmittal, and dispensation
2) In the in-patient environment: Closed Loop System: a combination of ePrescribing + eMAR designed to minimize errors and increase patient safety
