How do others deal with accessing information from multiple work sites? What have you found to be useful ways to deal with this challenge?

Multiple work sites as in sites that are not accessible from one network?

The providers at my organization can access the EHR (and the eRx module) from anywhere they have a connection to our network. We have computers in exam rooms, at nurse stations, and in various locations between exam rooms. Providers also have laptops that allow them to VPN to our network from anywhere they can get wireless internet. It would be technically feasible to design applications for hand-held devices, but I don't foresee that being done here. It's rare for our providers to have (or want) those devices and I would imagine the cost would be prohibitive to develop and support.
